Seminar on Sustainability – Highlighting the Pioneering the Finance – Accounting Role in Corporate Long-Term Strategy

In the context of global challenges such as climate change, resource depletion, and social inequality, the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) has collaborated with Baker Tilly A&C to successfully host a seminar “Sustainability – Enhancing the Organizing and Pioneering Role of the Finance – Accounting Department” on July 24, 2025

The event welcomed over 100 participants, including representatives from partner organizations, enterprises, and leadership teams and staff from Baker Tilly A&C. This seminar created a platform for experts, managers, and financial leaders to exchange visions, experiences, and practical solutions toward achieving sustainable development goals.

In his opening remarks, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Thanh – General Director of Baker Tilly A&C Consulting – emphasized the importance of improving corporate governance capabilities and adaptability. Particularly, the Finance – Accounting Department must play a central role in integrating sustainability into business strategy and operations.

At this event, ACCA and Baker Tilly A&C signed a cooperation agreement to jointly deliver training for the Professional Diploma in Sustainability, a prestigious international certification developed by ACCA. Through this partnership, Baker Tilly A&C becomes an official training partner of ACCA, helping equip professionals with advanced knowledge and methodologies for implementing sustainability practices.

The signing ceremony was attended by Mr. Pulkit Abrol – Managing Director of ACCA Asia-Pacific, along with senior representatives from both organizations. In his speech, Mr. Abrol stated:

“Today’s seminar and our cooperation reflect a broader vision – recognizing Vietnam’s growing role in the regional and global economy. The decisions made today will shape how Vietnamese businesses not only compete but lead on the path to sustainability.”

The majority of the seminar was dedicated to a panel discussion themed “Sustainability – Enhancing Organizational and the Pioneering Role of the Finance – Accounting Function.” Esteemed speakers included Mr. Ton That Hac Minh – Co-founder and Chairman of Earthwise Vietnam, Mr. Pham Hong Luc – CFO of Earthwise Vietnam; and Ms. Phuong Nguyen – Business Development Director of ACCA Vietnam, and Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Thanh who acted as a coordinator.

The panel offered deep insights into sustainable corporate governance principles and approaches. The speakers highlighted the strategic role of the Finance – Accounting function, not only in financial oversight but also in advancing ESG practices and integrating sustainability into long-term business directions.

The discussion also welcomed diverse perspectives from guest experts, notably Mr. Do Le Hung – Chairman of the Audit Committee at Vinamilk, along with representatives from the banking and manufacturing sectors, and specialists in taxation, independent auditing, and internal auditing. Their contributions provided a clearer picture of the challenges, opportunities, and trends in sustainable business practices in Vietnam

The program concluded with a flower presentation to the speakers and a networking reception. This meaningful event marked a significant step in raising awareness and driving sustainable actions within the Vietnamese business community.
